Calories Count:

You can easily decrease the number of calories in your diet by making small and simple changes.

  • Drink nonfat or 1% milk instead of whole milk. Nonfat milk has fewer calories with the same amount of calcium and nutrients.
  • Eat off small plates and bowls and drink from small cups.
  • Select lean luncheon meats like turkey.
  • Pile lettuce, tomato and onions on your burger or sandwich instead of cheese.
  • Watch the big cookies and brownies. Choose a 2-inch square brownie or dessert bar.
  • Satisfy your sweet tooth with a small taste of dessert instead of a full portion, or share a dessert with a friend.
  • Snack on canned fruit packed in water or its natural juice instead of regular chips and cookies.
